A Rainbow of Healing Nectars
The Tibetan medical system is an extremely complex subject with its roots deeply embedded in Buddhist philosophy. Within the Tantric Buddhist lineage of Mahayana there exist many healing methods, which have been developed to help us link to our absolute healing energy; offering us solutions to the deep and difficult sicknesses experienced in modern times. In the past, there was very limited access to these methods, and, for those who gained the opportunity to study, it involved many types of commitment. Nowadays everyone, regardless of their personal religion, faith or culture, can access these teachings and use the unique methods that deal with the reality of our body and mind energy. By meditating, for example, on the healing archetype of Medicine Buddha with a feeling of love and compassion towards the sick and suffering, it is possible to contact an absolute healing energy that can be of use to ourselves and our patients. There is absolutely no need for us to change our healing techniques or work environment, because as we contact this healing energy our everyday working practice will automatically begin to change: we will have a different feeling, a new wisdom and a deeper inner certainty about which approach, medicine or therapy will help each patient. We need to experience this change directly, because it is only through personal experience that our faith in this method will grow and strengthen.
By opening our minds and hearts to a different healing system, and following the NgalSo Self-Healing Practice of the Seven Medicine Buddhas, we are opening the door to our inner healing power. Once we have understood how to access this power, we can use it to heal both others and ourselves by alleviating the physical and mental suffering of mankind.
